Privacy policy

Who we are

We are iShazam, based in Melbourne, Australia. You can reach us at [email protected]. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

When you use a form on this site, we collect what you type in: your name, email address, business name, website, industry, suburb or service area, team size, what you need, the one job you would never do again, the tools you already pay for, and any message. Your phone number is optional and we only use it if you ask for a call. Your answers to the two tick boxes (newsletter and follow-up tips) are saved too. Both boxes start unticked.

If you use one of our free tools or quizzes, we also collect your answers. For website and business listing checks, we look at public information about your website and your business listing, using Google services, to make your report.

When you book a call, we collect your booking details and the answers you give us.

For emails we send, we record delivery, opens and link clicks. We count page visits without cookies. We record how people use the site (clicks, scrolling and session recordings) only if you accept cookies.

Your form also remembers your business details on your own device so you do not have to type them again. We do not keep your phone number there. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Why

We use this information to reply to you, make and email your report (as a PDF), prepare for your call, send tips you asked for and improve the site. We also use your email address to recognise you when you come back, so we do not create a second record or repeat work. Parts of your report may be written with the help of an automated writing service.

Our newsletter uses double opt-in. You only join after you click the confirmation link in the email we send you.

Where it is stored

Your information is kept in our automation system and in our customer and project records system. Both are secured with logins. We also use trusted providers for email delivery, bookings, website hosting, bot protection, analytics and AI tools.

Some of these providers are based overseas, mainly in the United States and the European Union. When we use them, your information can be sent to or stored in those countries. We choose providers that protect it and we only share what they need to do their job. We do not sell your information.

How long

We keep enquiries and leads for 2 years after our last contact, then delete them unless you become a client. We keep client records for 7 years to meet tax record rules. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, and we will do so unless we must keep it by law.

Data breaches

If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will tell you and the OAIC as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe using the link in every newsletter and decline cookies. You can also ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not happy with our answer, you can make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au/privacy/privacy-complaints.

Changes

We will update this page when our privacy practices change.
